To celebrate its release, get 30% off the Cordillera Shawl until Oct 30th, 2024. Happy knitting!

My favorite spot to knit at is the large picture window in my living room, and through it I get a perfect view of the chain of mountains that envelop the little valley I live in. I love these mountains, especially in the fall when they’re dotted with the red and gold of the maples and aspens that cover its ridges. The Cordillera Shawl is a little like a love letter to these mountain, and my home.

With the a stitch pattern that perfectly matches these mountains on the horizon, this shawl is large and made out of worsted weight yarn–exactly what you need during the cold and snowy winter here. Measuring at 100 inches/254 cm along the longest, this shawl can be used easily as an oversized scarf, wrap, or even a blanket.

The shawl is an asymmetrical triangle design. It starts with a unique rib design that becomes the pointed mountain tops. The pattern includes instructions for reducing (or increasing) the size of the shawl.

Skill Level: Beginner
You will need to know how to knit and purl. Instructions are given on how to complete all other stitches, and are written.

Yarn
Worsted weight, approximately 1416 yds/1295 m (pictured: Cumbria in Egremont from The Fibre Co., 60% Merino wool/30% Masham wool/10% mohair)

As a note, the pattern as written uses up almost all of the skeins required from The Fibre Co. (6 skeins). If you do use their yarn–which I highly recommend, it’s so lovely–make sure you are on gauge so you don’t end up with a shawl that is 99% done and no more yarn.

Needles
US 6/4 mm 32 inches/80 cm circular knitting needle
Cable needle, optional
